Annotation Overview

Annotations in Revaly allow you to give key information about specific assets you and your team are working on. An annotation is a 3D marker on an asset or document.

Leaving an annotation

If you want to leave an annotation on your asset, click the "point annotation" button on the left side of your screen.

Point Annotation

From here, you can select your annotation option: either pin, sphere, or torus.

You can quickly leave a pin annotation by clicking twice in quick succession on an asset.Double click for Annotation

Annotation Types

After selecting your annotation option, click the location on the asset where you want to leave the annotation. This will put down the annotation.

When leaving an annotation, the geometry that the annotation will be placed on is highlighted. This provides enhanced context for where the annotation will be left.

Annotation Highlights Surface

When leaving an annotation, you will have the option to leave a comment, attach a file, or record your screen.

An annotation must contain text to be placed, otherwise, it will disappear.

Leaving a comment will follow the same formatting as in Text Chat.

The color of each annotation will match the color of the user who left it.

Measurement Annotations

Measurement annotations measure distances between specified points on your asset.

To leave a measurement annotation, first, click on the measurement button on the left side of the screen.

 Location of Measure Annotation

From here, you will select two different points on your asset that you want to be measured. The tool will give you the distance between the points, and give you the option to leave a comment, attach a file, or record your screen.

The highlighting feature makes it easier to distinguish the edges of an asset when placing a measurement annotation, measurements in Revaly will automatically “snap” to the nearest end-point or mid-point.

Leaving Measure Annotation

A measurement annotation does not need to contain text to be placed.

Arc Measurements

Arc measurements are an enhanced measure annotation that enables the measurement of distances between two arcs or curves.

Measure Furthest Distance
